Podgorica is niet de meest spectaculaire stad van Montenegro. De historische binnenstad is behoorlijk kapotgeschoten in de Tweede Wereldoorlog, en van de historische bouwwerken uit de Ottomaanse en de Montenegrijnse 19de eeuwse architectuur staat er daarom nog maar weinig overeind.

| content= Ten zuiden van de brug over het riviertje de Ribnica staan bovenaan de heuvel de laatste resten van het Ribnicafort. Het fort uit de 15de eeuw werd lange tijd gebruikt als opslagplaats voor munitie. Dat werd het fort in 1878 fataal, toen de bliksem in het fort insloeg en het fort wegvaagde.

- Pod Volat (Trg. Vojvode Becir Bega Osmanagic); waar je klassieke Balkangerechten kunt eten. Het vlees dat er geserveerd wordt, komt uit de slagerij van de broer van de eigenaar.
